We Need to Heal
Many groups of people, including Black people/people of African heritage, people of Colour, white women, gay people and people with disabilities, have problems around self-esteem and confidence because this society does not support our having high self-esteem. We have historically been treated as second-class citizens, marginalised and ignored.
As people of African heritage, we were taught to hate ourselves. That's why we often find so much conflict within Black groups and organisations. It's why there is sometimes so much distrust between African people. But we can change this. To read more see: The Key to Confidence and Self-Esteem.
Click here for beautiful, beautiful images of sistas, brothas, children, couples, families, etc. with natural, napptural hair.
I've got lots more images on Pinterest of loving Black people, families, African images, African headwraps - images that affirm us in culturally positive ways. These are the kinds of images with which we need to be filling our minds, and the minds of our children.
I shall soon be interviewing Toyin Agbetu, Director of the film "Beauty Is", so stay tuned!
